Mill Pond

Plans of the new owners of Selene 57, Patience, got hung up in Annapolis, thanks to the dregs of Hurricane Ida. You all know about that one. Instead of departing for her new home port of Wrightsville Beach, NC on 11/11, she finally departed 11/14 and ran to Norfolk. The Great Bridge locks were damaged in the storm and down for the count.

So, what does a great ocean-going boat do?  On Sunday morning, 11/15 she headed out to the Atlantic Ocean, rounded Cape Hatteras and Cape Lookout, and some 33 hours later she arrived safely at her new home. The weatherman cut them a break; conditions were just fine, and so was the Selene. Interestingly, three larger gray-hulled trawlers decided to wait for the lock to be repaired. Huh?

Congratulations to Paul and his son Jeff, and to our own Capt. John Dennison who joined the crew for the delivery.
